“My name is Lakshmi Sharma. I am from the village Tilonia, in Ajmer district. I have studied till class 9th. From a very young age I have enjoyed doing handicraft work and sewing, but for several reasons, I could not pursue my hobbies and studies further.
But today I feel very fortunate that I have got the opportunity to work in Enriche Section at Barefoot College, Tilonia where I got the chance to fulfill my unfinished dreams. I have gained many new experiences, such as attending workshops on eight different subjects with International Solar trainees conducted by the Enriche Master Trainers. We have discussions on important topics such as the benefits of having a bank account, budgeting, composting, gender roles, environment, sewing, micro-enterprise, women health and self-awareness which has increased my knowledge & awareness.
Among all these new learnings and experiences, I got an opportunity which I consider as the greatest achievement in my life, something I will never ever forget.
I was given the task of facilitating workshops with the international solar trainees all by myself. Facilitating workshops with International trainees is not an easy task, I felt like I was traveling to 10 different countries sitting in that room. Yet I have single handedly conducted four workshops on “Stitching cloth sanitary napkin”! During the initial workshops, I was a little afraid to facilitate these workshops alone. But as I had provided stitching lessons to solar trainees along with my colleagues from Eniche section in the last few months, it became easier for me. In addition, my Enriche team had faith in me, and because of that, I successfully managed to conduct these four workshops. For this, I thank the Enriche Team who believed in me. They increased my self-confidence and gave me the opportunity to facilitate these workshops alone. I am proud of myself as I have not only fulfilled my dream but today I am also working in a similar position as that of my husband. This I had never imagined! I am very happy that today I can support my family as well. ”

“मेरा नाम लक्ष्मी शर्मा हैं। मैं गाँव तिलोनिया, जिला अजमेर की रहने वाली हूँ। मैंने कक्षा 9 वीं तक शिक्षा प्राप्त की हैं। मुझे बचपन से ही हेंडीक्राफ्ट और सिलाई का कार्य करना बहुत अच्छा लगता हैं, लेकिन किसी कारण वश मैं अपना ये कार्य और मेरी पढ़ाई आगे पूरी नहीं कर पाई।
लेकिन आज मैं अपने आप को बहुत सौभाग्यशाली समझती हूँ कि मुझे बेयरफुट कॉलेज, तिलोनिया के एनरिच विभाग में कार्य करने का अवसर प्राप्त हुआ, जहाँ मुझे मेरे अधुरे सपने को पूरा करने का मौका मिला। इसके साथ मुझे एनरिच विभाग की ओर से कई नए अनुभव प्राप्त हुए, जैसे, विदेशी महिलाओं के साथ एनरिच के आठ विषयों पर होने वाली वर्कशॉप में हिस्सा लेने के मौक़े मिले, जिसमे बैंक-खाता होने के फ़ायदे, बजट, खाद, जेंडर, पर्यावरण, सिलाई, सुक्ष्म उद्योग, महिला स्वास्थ, आत्मजागरुकता, जैसे कई महत्वपूर्ण विषयों पर बात की जाती है, इससे मेरी बहुत जानकारी बढ़ी।
इन सभी के बीच मुझे एक अवसर मिला जो मेरे जीवन में आज तक की सबसे बड़ी उपलब्धि है, जिसे मैं कभी नहीं भुला सकती हूँ। यह मौक़ा था विदेशी महिलाओं के साथ अकेले वर्क्शाप लेने का अवसर। विदेशी महिलाओं के साथ वर्कशॉप लेना आम बात नहीं हैं, मुझे ऐसा लग रहा था कि मैं एक जगह बैठे दस देशों की यात्रा कर रहीं हूँ। मैंने अकेले विदेशी महिलाओं के साथ सेनेट्री पैड सिलाई के चार वर्कशॉप लिए है। वर्कशॉप लेते समय मेरे मन में एक डर था कि क्या मैं विदेशी महिलाओं के साथ अकेले वर्कशॉप ले पाऊंगी ? पर क्योंकि मैंने पिछले कुछ महीनों से अपने साथियों के साथ सोलर ट्रेनीज़ को सिलाई की ट्रेनिंग दी थी, इसलिए यह वर्क्शाप अकेले लेना मेरे लिए आसान हो गया और साथ ही साथ मेरी एनरिच टीम को मेरे ऊपर विश्वास था जिसके रहते मैं ये चार वर्कशॉप सफलतापूर्वक ले पाई। इसके लिए मैं एनरिच टीम को धन्यवाद देती हूँ कि उन्होंने मेरे ऊपर विश्वास किया, मेरा आत्मविश्वास बढाया और मुझे अकेले वर्कशॉप लेने का मौका दिया। मैं अपने आप पर गर्व करती हूँ कि मैंने मेरा सपना भी पूरा किया और आज मैं अपने पति के बराबर काम कर रही हूँ, जो मैंने कभी नहीं सोचा था। मुझे ख़ुशी हैं कि आज मैं अपने परिवार की मदद कर पा रही हूँ।
