We welcome you to visit any of our campuses In India or internationally. A visit to The Barefoot College is an incredible opportunity to see first hand how the only college built by and for the rural poor operates—and how it is being replicated globally.
Why plan a Barefoot visit?
A visit experience is a learning experience and a chance to hear from beneficiaries and practitioners alike. Whether you’re with us one day or 10, you’ll gain insight and understanding about the challenges and impact of our work.
Where in the world is The Barefoot College?
Our flagship campus is located in the village of Tilonia in Rajasthan, India. We’ve welcomed visitors here from all over the world to see Barefoot Solutions in action for more than 40 years. We also have satellite campuses across Africa (Burkina Faso, Liberia, Senegal, South Sudan and Zanzibar), and Latin America (our Guatemala is coming soon).

Which campus can I visit?
The doors of our original and oldest campus in Tilonia are always open to visitors. Soon we will also be accepting applications to visit our Zanzibar campus and our other international locations. To visit us in Tilonia, all you need to after reviewing the FAQ is fill out our visit form. When should I plan my trip?
We strongly advise that you plan your visit outside the months of May and June to avoid the hottest Rajasthan summer temperatures. Additionally, the monsoon (rainy) season in Rajasthan occurs from late July until early September.
If you plan to visit our African and Latin American campus, projects are best suited for visitors during the summer (June, July and August).
How long can I stay?
We offer single day visits to all guests. We offer overnight stays to intrepid individuals and groups who want the full Barefoot experience.
Day visits: We always enjoy showing guests around campus for the day. Be sure to confirm your visit date with us ahead of time. Please pay upon arrival and notify someone at the Information Booth when you arrive on campus.
Overnight stays: Guests can spend the night at the Barefoot College and experience all of our evening activities, such as our Solar Bridge Schools. Our guest house has limited space, and availability will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Group visits: We welcome groups for single or multi-day visits. As always, please confirm your visit in advance using the online form.
How much does a visit cost?
As a committed non-profit organization, we rely on contributions from our supporters to keep things running smoothly. We sincerely appreciate the generosity and understanding of all our donors. We couldn’t do this without you. Costs below are listed in US dollars. Payment in cash (US dollars or Indian rupees) is accepted upon arrival based on the current exchange rates.
Overnight stay (includes tours, accommodation and all meals) – $30
Day visit (includes tours and lunch) – $20
Day visit for Indian Nationals with student ID (includes lunch) – $10
Secondary Indian school class groups and Indians 64+ years old – Free
Visit to the a night schools – $30
Do you have access to transportation to and around campus?
Yes. Overnight tours include transportation to visit different programmes, however if additional vehicle use is needed for transportation to and from the airport or train station, the prices are as follows:
Bus: 35Rs. per kilometer
Car: 15Rs. per kilometer
