Start Date: June 5, 2019

For a few years now, the Communication Team at Barefoot College has been following the work of a tribe of filmmakers known as Cultures of Resistance. Their mission: to create and distribute films that advance public awareness about issues of social and economic justice, and that showcase creative efforts to promote peace and protect human rights. Honouring their documentaries is an opportunity to educate our staff and trainees on current issues.

World Environment Day

With the release of Wantoks by Iara Lee, and World Environment Day approaching, we decided to create Rural Screenings to take place in our campus-village, home to an international/millennial staff of 40, a rural staff of 100 and 116 women trainees that often come from the same societies Cultures of Resistance focuses on.

Be there for 8:30. Seating is first come, first serve. Rugs and chairs will be laid out, under the stars. Documentary is just 20 minutes long, followed by a short discussion. A 13-min Short Film on Barefoot College Zanzibar by Thomson Reuters will follow.
