TILONIA, RAJASTHAN –
We believe that women empowered with the right skills and tools are powerful agents of change able to curb Climate Change, improve social values and habits and mitigate disaster by responsible management of essential infrastructure in their communities.
Barefoot College along with partner, Frontier Markets is committed to creating this opportunity for 10,000 women in the next 3 years. We hope to skill women on solar technology and create income growth which will enable rural women to rise out of generational poverty. This education with the enterprise toolkit will combine Barefoot College’s Solar Engineer Training to manufacture, install and service solar products in their villages, with Frontier Markets’ market-based approach to train women to collect and use customer data as energy consultants. As a first step towards this goal we have organized:
a Solar Mela
7th of December 2017
Solar Section, Old Campus
Come and exhibit a series of low-cost, high-impact products and gather feedback from rural women on what would best suit the needs of their communities.
- 250 women from 50 villages of Ajmer, Nagaur, Jaipur and Badmer will be attending.
- Partner organizations and 5 field centres of Barefoot College will participate.
- 14 products will be exhibited, most of which can be fabricated and repaired by rural women themselves.
