Safe Birthing in Senegal for Giving Tuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday, a day of radical support of the greater good, launched in 2012.

For most charitable organizations like ours, Giving Tuesday represents an opportunity to spur an immediate infusion of capital for specific and important projects that have taken place throughout the year. This combination of reflection and action prior to the busy holiday season can propel critical support to those who need it most.

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving designed to unleash the power of radical generosity,” Global Giving’s platform states. “As a founding partner of GivingTuesday, GlobalGiving has championed this day of fundraising since its inception in 2012 to help our nonprofit community make the most of every giving season!”

For Giving Tuesday, BCI is featuring our first solar electrification of a birthing center in Senegal. This groundbreaking project was funded by a grant from Turner and Townsend. BCI has shipped its new enhanced solar equipment, and installation is ongoing at this time.

This is one of our most innovate and forward-looking pilot projects, that will directly improve the safety for hundreds of mothers in labor and their newborn children.

For Giving Tuesday we are targeting $20,000 in donations and matching funding to fund the installation of a second birthing center in the area. Read all about it here

Today and today only Global Giving will award $500,000 in matching funds to organizations like ours. The more donations, no matter large or small, will bring more revenue from the organization.

Today is the day for impact and it’s as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Donate right now here.
  2. Email 3 friends, include a link to this story and ask them to join you in your support of healthy mothers and children in Senegal.
  3. Post about it on social and help spread the word!

Let’s enjoy this special day to “unleash the power of radical generosity” together!
