Three areas that highlight the "barefoot innovation" of the College have been the construction of the Barefoot College campus, rainwater harvesting systems and homes for the homeless.

All the construction work that the Barefoot College has carried out required no urban engineers, no professional designers and no blueprints or drawings. To date, over 50,000 rural poor have directly benefitted from the barefoot architects of Tilonia.

The College has also adapted the geodesic dome designed by Buckminster Fuller for use in building construction.
