HRH studying the cost of installing a solar powered computer in a village.
Also studying the figures is Marilyn Ware from Thames Water in America.
It costs 2,500 British Pounds to install one whole unit.
Semi-literate and illiterate rural women are feeding data into computers on
the water status in each village. The availability of water for drinking irrigation
and animals is recorded 3 times a year to give some idea how much water is
needed to make the villages self sufficient in their needs
170,000 litres of rain water has been collected from the roofs into this
tank. A low cost hand pump has been fitted on the tank to prevent wastage
In the brackish and saline belt in more than 50 rural schools surrounding
the village of aoo such low cost rain water harvesting tanks have been constructed
by barefoot architects and engineers using traditional knowledge
and skills
