The Walk through the village attracted several hundred people all along the way. Journalists covering the visit said they had never been allowed to come so close to HRH.

They said he was a changed man. Relaxed, accessible and mixing with the crowds. Inquisitive, always asking questions wanting to know the minutest detail of how the rural poor lived.

No attempt was made to make the village look clean just for the visit. In a village of 500 people several thousands came from nearby villages to see him at close quarters.

In Rajasthan royalty is usually identified with the elaborate saffa(turban). The fact that he did not wear one did not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd who came very close to meet him and shake his hand.
